What information can be found?

The purpose of the WMA database is to facilitate the search for water-related information on the global, regional, international, national and local levels. A search for information can be carried out according to the following categories:

Under this category, all kinds of monitoring, reporting and observation programmes that collect and publish data (in the form of databases or reports) can be found.

The Tools & Methods section has been added to the WMA to present an overview of different monitoring methods, such as household surveys or composite indices. Detailed information can be found on methodology as well as indicators and data used by the method.

Under this point, programmes and organisations performing capacity-building activities in the monitoring sector are presented. This relates to training, research and resource centres at all scale.

Regional profiles are still under development. They will provide background information on political agendas, useful documents and access to regional programmes for the following regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and Northern Africa, North America, Oceania and Pacific.

Country profiles provide water related information for African countries (final goal is to provide profiles of every country). Sections refers to the country water profile, access to water and sanitation, ODA for water and monitoring activities at national and local level. This work is also in progress, all profiles are not available yet.

These sections have been created to provide background documents on monitoring and information on recent developments, workshops or meeting of the water monitoring world.

How information can be found?

The WMA offer 2 possibilities to search for Monitoring & Related Activities, for Tools & Methods and for Capacity Building activities.

If you have a specific programme in mind, and you know the name of it, you can go directly to the global list of activities in the main menu , which takes stock of registered activities presented in alphabetical order and according to their category (monitoring, tools & methods, capacity building). Then click on the name of the programme you would like to consult and access its sheet.

Third, you have now the possibility to make multicriteria searches in each section, according to criteria such as type of activity, country, region, keywords. This offers you the possibility to make an advanced search. Good search!
