Description Organisations Methodology Indicators & data

Data are catalogued, streamlined, and released to the public through the IWMI Data Storehouse Pathway (DSP).

Much of the river basin and other datasets are composed as single mega files of hundreds, or sometimes thousands, of bands, consisting of continuous streams of 8-day or monthly time series data in several wavebands and/or indices.

These large volumes of multi-temporal data come from satellite sensors such as:

  • SPOT vegetation,
  • LANDSAT with ETM+ (Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus), TM (Thematic Mapper), and MSS sensors,
  • IKONOS,
  • ASTER,
  • MODIS-Terra and MODIS-Aqua,
  • AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer),
  • ALI (Advanced Land Imager),
  • Quickbird 2,
  • Radarsat,
  • JERS1.

Depending on their ground resolution (from 250 to 1250m), their spectral range (red, infrared, near-infrared, blue, green), satellite sensors have different applications and can collect a wide range of information and data.
